Marcus was dedicated to sprintcar racing from an early age and wanted to be in the pits with his dad, Max. He began watching, keen to be prepared to begin his racing career when it came to his turn. In 2007 Marcus began racing motorbikes and seen some success in the 65cc division winning the Oakdale motocross championship. After five years of racing motorbikes and only with one broken arm, it was recommended that he make the move to go-karts if he wanted to follow his dream of racing sprintcars.
So, Marcus moved to go-karts in 2012 and raced for three seasons. It was in go-karts that he saw his first snip of great success when he won the Australian Title in 2013. In 2015, he made the jump into sprintcars were he would get to live out his dream as well as race wheel to wheel with his dad. In his first year of
competition he scored one top 10 and also received the Sprintcar Association of NSW Rookie of the Year award. Later that year, Marcus began racing in the United States to extend his race season were he scored four top 10s and two top 5s.
In 2017, Marcus was nominated for the Speedway Australia Rising Star program, where he visited the Australian Institute of Sport for the week-long program.
In 2018, Marcus scored his first sprintcar win at Valvoline Raceway for the annual Valvoline Grand Prix on Boxing Day. Since scoring his first win, Marcus has won multiple features across New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria.
Marcus continues to travel to the United States during the Australian off-season to gain experience. In 2019, Marcus raced in his first World of Outlaws feature and had the opportunity to hit some of the well-known tracks in the United States, including Pevely for the Ironman 55, Eldora for the Kings Royal and the Knoxville Nationals at Knoxville Raceway.
In 2019/2020, Marcus seen great success together with Darryl "Mouse" Green as his crew chief, his family and team at home and the Rowett's in South Australia. Marcus was able to steer two cars across the season, his home state car being white and his away car being black. While the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic Marcus took out the Valvoline Raceway Track Championship (USC NSW), the Murray Bridge Speedway points (USC SA), Valvoline Raceway Speedweek and the Ultimate Speedway Challenge across NSW, SA and QLD. Marcus also finished 2nd at the Australian Sprintcar Title in Latrobe, Tasmania and in January 2020, Marcus experienced his most memorable win yet, when he won a preliminary night of the infamous Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic in front of his dad's home crowd.
2022 seen great excitement for Marcus, Max, Mouse, the family and team with his win of the Australian Sprintcar Title at Archerfield Speedway for the last ever Australia Title being held at the venue. Marcus only 22 years of age at the time, joined his father Max and a long line of champions to win the prestigious event.
