DUMESNY FAMILY RACE TO CREATE HISTORY

6 DUMESNY'S. 1 RACE. 1 WINNER.

SYDNEY NSW: 12 February 2016. Australian Sprintcar champion Max Dumesny and his family are set to create history this Saturday February 13 at Valvoline Raceway in Sydney Australia, when all six family members hit the track for a special 10-lap Sprintcar heat race.

“It’s going to be great to be on the track with my family,” says an excited Max.

Max (56) has run and won many races over many years across Australia and the United States of America. His incredible resume of victories includes the prestigious Australian Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic, the Australian Sprintcar Championship, World Series Sprintcars and the State Championships throughout Australia to name but a few. He also raced NASCAR, V8 Supercars, Midgets, Formula 500’s and Motocross. Questioned on what he considers his most memorable win, Max reminisces, “The 1985 Knoxville Nationals Race of States would have to be my most memorable win racing Bob Trostle’s car”.

Max’s wife of 30 years, Melinda, also calved herself into the dirt track history books, when she become the first woman to qualify for a Knoxville Raceway main event. Melinda (52), formerly raced Sprintcars for her father Sid Moore from her teenage years up until Max and herself started a family.

This weekend marks almost 20 years since Melinda last strapped herself into a winged rocket.

Joining Max and Melinda on-track will be their sons, Mitchell (28), Matt (21) and Marcus (16) who all started their racing careers in dirt karts from a very young age, and their daughter Michaela (26), who kicked off her career in junior sedans at 15.

Mitchell returned to racing part-time this year after breaking his back in a crash back in 2012. He first ran Sprintcars at the age of 16 and has won multiple Valvoline Raceway track championships and numerous A-mains, including a World Series Sprintcars main event.

Michaela, currently the Valvoline Raceway Pit Reporter will juggle duties on Saturday to race Danny Reidy’s Desert Palms Resort NQ#5 for the Dumesny heat race. She debuted in a Sprintcar earlier this season and previously raced Wingless Sprints, winning the Rising Star of the Year award in her first season and scoring many podium finishes. “I cannot thank Danny and the Reidy family enough for giving me this opportunity”. Michaela states.

As Valvoline Raceway’s 2014 Rookie of the Year, Matt started racing in karts at 7, making history at the age of 12 for being the youngest to win an Australian dirt track kart title. After transitioning successfully into motocross with multiple wins and placing 2nd at the Millville Amateur Nationals (USA) on a 450cc, Matt then followed his father’s footsteps into a Sprintcar, where he has raced a 410ci for three seasons now and placed in the top 5 at various tracks across the country.

Still in his Sprint car debut season, the youngest Dumesny, Marcus entered the ‘big game’ having also won an Australian dirt track kart title, along with many motocross podiums. After the second night of the 2016 Australian Sprintcar Championship last month, Marcus was an impressive 45th in points overall (102 cars entered), which was a remarkable achievement as most of Marcus’s fellow competitors race 410ci engines and Marcus is still racing with a 372ci engine.

Only last September Max and Peter Besgrove (General Manager of Valvoline Australia) unveiled an epic four-car team of Max Dumesny#V5, Marcus Dumesny#N47, Matt Dumesny#V57, Mitchell Dumesny and Michaela Dumesny#N77at Valvoline Raceway. “I am extremely privileged for Valvoline’s contribution to my motorsport career and especially grateful for them coming on board with all four of our cars this year!” explained a very proud Max who was recently confirmed as being the longest running Valvoline sponsored sportsperson worldwide.

This Saturday at Valvoline Raceway, in conjunction with the Ultimate Sprintcar Championship (USC), is also Ultimate Pink Night, with free general admission for all women. Everyone is encouraged to wear something pink in support of Pink Ribbon, with 100% of donations collected on the night going directly to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. It’s the perfect night to come support Max, Melinda, Mitch, Michaela, Matt, Marcus and also ‘help drive out breast cancer’.

This will be something to remember, the competitive nature of the Dumesny family will ensure that no quarter will be given and it is sure to be an exciting event.

Qualifying from 6pm Australian EST. If you can’t get trackside, you can watch the entire night, streamed live online. Simply head to clayperview.com and subscribe. Broadcast starts at 5.30pm Australian EST.
