MATT DUMESNY TO RACE IN THE UNITED STATES
WAVERLY, OH: May 19 2015. Matt Dumesny to drive the A76 in Waverly, Ohio this coming weekend Saturday the 23rd.
After another successful season at his local track, Valvoline Raceway in Sydney Australia, third generation Sprintcar racer Matt Dumesny made the decision to spend the summer in the USA in hopes to broaden his knowledge in the motorsport industry.
Travelling, crewing and in search of an opportunity to jump back behind the wheel the past month, Dumesny has now been offered a drive with John Shewbrook Racing, based out of Waverly, Ohio.
John formerly competed on the American Power Boat Association Inboard Racing Tour for decades with several wins and championships throughout both the United States and Canada before finding a new passion in car racing in 2007.
Shewbrook started racing Three Quarter (TQ) Midgets and now races/owns three Sprint cars A76, A79 and A97 with Aaron Higgins currently driving the A97.
“I’m thrilled to have a driver of Matt’s caliber in my car and I’m looking forward to our team hitting the Speedway this weekend”, he explained.
21-year-old Dumesny (whose Pop, Mother, Father, Elder brother, Elder sister and Younger brother have or still do race) has shown promising results after just two seasons in a 410ci Sprint car in multiple states across Australia.
He won the Sprintcar Association of NSW (SANSW) 2013/2014 Rookie of the Year and this year completed the championship in 10th place with many Top Ten “A Main” finishes.
“This is an awesome opportunity for me to broaden my racing style and learn more within the racing world, I can’t thank John enough for giving me the chance to drive his racecar.”
This Saturday (May 23) Matt will be hitting the high banks of Atomic Speedway, a 3/8th mile dirt track in Waverly OH, driving John’s A76 410ci Sprint car for the first time.
